Heres my quick list of tips for using GoToMyPc (a remote access tool that works a bit like Real VNC).

GoToMyPC is an ideal solution for taking control of a desktop PC from a web browser. To do this, simply register on the site and install GoToMyPC on the PC client software (1.4 MB), which operates as a service in the background. Of course, the PC must be permanently connected to the Internet.

There is a promo code for GoToMyPc available that will get you a free 30 day trial.

That said, once you’ve installed gotomeeting you’re up and ready to go. The acquisition of control takes place remotely with a web browser on Windows capable of running Java programs (applets). The user logs onto the website GoToMyPC Secure (SSL) with his email address and a personal password, select the PC that it wants to take control and enter the access code. This code must match the one stored on the PC when installing the client software. The browser displays the screen of the remote PC.  There is a free download of gotomypc available

128-bit encryption

Communications are encrypted with the AES algorithm (128 bits). GoToMyPC offers advanced security features, such as requesting the access code in case of inactivity and display an alert on the screen of remote PC. The personal version of GoToMyPC has a single account and control of one or two posts. The GoToMyPc install is available for a free 30 day trial. This includes both the gotomypc viewer and the corporate trial.

Analysis
Compared to solutions like pcAnywhere, GoToMyPC is much easier to use by using a web browser. It is all the more attractive it is offered at a price very competitive.

The remote control is done by connecting to the secure GoToMyPC Web site.
